Cash for Clunkers. Can someone explain to me WTF the purpose of this program is?

When will we wake up in America and realize that whenever the government gets involved in manipulating (not regulating) certain industries, the end result usually involves unintended consequences, that the utilization of some wisdom form the beginning would have helped all of us to avoid. I can not help but to beleive as I myself get older and hopefully a bit wiser, that we have a large group of people in America that want America to fail. Their actions speak louder than words as they continue to touch the hot stove, like children. A fifth grader might even speculate for example that this program could have a major impact on the poor as the supply of these affordable vehicles declines. A sixth grader might add that lowering the supply of used cars will also impact the cost of newer cars as they are in more demand. A seventh grader might conclude that the increase in the cost of manufacturing in the near future due to anticipated inflation coupled with the current or then anticipated average American household debt will likely reverse this incentive as consumers find themselves giving these vehicles back to the bank, making this just another in a series of ill fated short sighted market manipulating tactics by corrupt dumb liberals. Usually by eighth grade, children who have learned to be logical will conclude that supply and demand alone must solve this problem and ultimately would. Quit touching the hot stove dummy!!
