How do i stop my dog from barking and chewing without using a mussle?

So i have a 5 months old dog, and hes a reactive dog. When hes outside in the yard, whenever he sees people walking by the house, he'll start barking like crazy. We'll tell him to stop by saying "No!" then give him a treat when he stops, but right after his treat he'll go back to what he was doing before BARK! Another thing is when he's inside the house he'll bite on the furniture and we'll tell him to stop and move him away from the furniture, then he'll go back, and we'll move him away again.. then after awhile he'll go crazy! he'll run in circles and bark.. what do i do? lock him in his crate? don't do anything? please help me!
