How rare is it to find a meteor rock just laying around up in the bush.?

My friend says he found one but i think it is just a old lava rock, he found it in Wells Grey park and Wells Grey used to be very volcanic millions of years ago and there are tons of caves and old lava tubes all throughout the park.
