Medieval History thoughts and help????
I don't know if one could call the marriage of the spiritual realm of Christianity to the earthly power of the Roman Empire healthy? By making these two spheres of influence one Constantine gave the Church power. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely, to quote Lord Acton. The Church, once a Community of Brothers and Sisters, became a tyrannical and bellicose organization just like the Roman Empire had been prior to Catholic inclusion. Furthermore Catholic corruption led to Protestant Reformation, which changed the world- view of Western Europe and help initiate the Modern Era by ushering in the idea of the Independent Agent notion of Individualism versus the Community of God's Children concept of Medieval Catholicism.
