How much Ritalin do you take per day?

What is a safe limit. My concern is that we don't know what Ritalin will do to the body over the long term. Nobody has been taking Ritalin for longer than 40 years. It could have very detrimental effects in the long term (just like smoking) and I just want to what you consider to be a safe dosage.
