Would a Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 Iron make a good bike for a beginner?

Get an insurance quote for a Suzuki S40 / Savage. The Savage is quicker off the line than the Sportster, lower top speed as if 85 mph isn't enough. The 883 Iron is $3,000 more and 200 pounds heavier than the S40.
